Eliminated Skra and Zenit meet in Pool A

 

Plock, Poland, November 29, 2018 - The last match in FIVB Volleyball Men's Club World Championship Pool in A in Plock sees Poland's PGE Skra Belchatow take on Zenit Kazan of Russia.

Head-to-Head
·    PGE Skra Belchatow and Zenit-Kazan meet for the fifth time at the Club World Championship.
·    Only Zenit-Kazan and Sada Cruzeiro have also met five times at the Club World Championship.
·    PGE Skra won the first three meetings: 3-1 in 2009 group stage, 3-2 in 2012 group stage and 3-2 in the 2012 third-place decider.
·    Zenit-Kazan won their last Club World Championships encounter with PGE Skra, 3-0 in the 2017 group stage.
·    Zenit have won four of their six Champions League (since 2000) matches against PGE Skra. All four Zenit wins came in Poland, while their two defeats took place in Kazan.

PGE Skra Belchatow
·    PGE Skra have lost both of their Club World Championship matches – 3-1 defeat against Italian side Cucine Lube Civitanova and 3-2 against Russian Fakel Novy Urengoy.
·    PGE Skra have now lost five Club World Championship matches in a row, including 2017, after losing only three of their first 17 matches in the competition.
·    PGE Skra collected a team Club World Championship record 122 points against Fakel Novy Urengoy and still lost. Their previous top mark was 109 in a 3-2 win against Paykan Tehran in 2010.
·    Milad Ebadipour Gharahassanlou is PGE Skra's tournament top scorer thus far, with 37 points, one more than Mariusz Wlazly.

Zenit-Kazan

·    Defending champions Zenit started the 2018 Club World Championship with 3-2 losses against Fakel Novy Urengoy and Cucine Lube Civitanova.
·    Zenit could lose three Club World Championship matches in a row for the first time. In 2011 and 2012, they lost two in a row as well.
·    Including the two matches this week, Zenit have failed to win any of their six five-setters in the competition.
·    Earvin Ngapeth (23) and Maxim Mikhaylov (21) surpassed the 20-point mark against Cucine Lube Civitanova. On Monday against Fakel Novy Urengoy, Ngapeth and Mikhaylov led their team with 19 points each.
