Kliuka: We had one goal, to win a medal - and we did it

Czestochowa, Poland, December 2, 2018 - Fakel Novy Urengoy came to Poland as outsiders in the 2018 FIVB Men's Club World Championship, but go home with a bronze medal, after beating hosts Asseco Resovia Rzeszow in the third-place playoff, achieving what had been their goal from the start.

Egor Kliuka, Fakel outside hitter: "We are very happy that we have won this match. We had a solid goal – to win a medal. We achieved it and this success is very important for our team."

Erik Shoji, Fakel libero: "I love playing in Poland. The atmosphere here is amazing. I think that the key to our victory was our block. We have a lot of talented players. A few years ago I played against my brother and it's always tough. I am happy that we were together here playing for a medal. Our victory against Zenit Kazan gave us a lot of confidence for the future."

Mateusz Mika, Resovia outside hitter: "I think that the reason that we lost were at the end of the sets, the rotations where we lost, like when Kliuka served four easy serves, but we were not able to score a point. This is volleyball. Whoever makes fewer mistakes wins the match. We felt that we can win aginst them."

Gheorghe Cretu, Resovia coach: "We had some moments when with positive reception we were not able to score to points. Fakel had also some issues with that. Both teams were good in blocking. In this level it is not surprising that the defence is at a good level."
