Lube shut out Fakel, top pool undefeated

 

Cucine Lube Civitanova put up a double block with Tsvetan Sokolov and Dragan Stankovic to stop Fakel Novy Urengoy's Artur Udrys, Thursday evening in Plock, at the 2018 FIVB Men's Club World Championship.

Plock, Poland, November 29, 2018 - Cucine Lube Civitanova of Italy summarily swept Russia's Fakel Novy Urengoy 3-0 (25-17, 25-18, 25-19) here Thursday evening to finish top of Pool A at the 2018 FIVB Men's Club World Championship, undefeated after three matches.

Both teams had already secured their tickets to the semifinals of the competition with a day to spare.

The result sets up Saturday's semifinals in Czestochowa as follows:

• 17:30 local time (16:30 GMT): Asseco Resovia Rzeszow (POL) v Cucine Lube Civitanova (ITA)
• 20:30 local time (19:30 GMT): Diatecx Trentino (ITA) v Fakel Novy Urengoy (RUS)


Robertlandy Simon of Cucine Lube Civitanova comes up against the Fakel Novy Urengoy triple block of Egor Kliuka, Ivan Iakovlev and Igor Kolodinsky, Thursday evening at the 2018 FIVB Men's Club World Championship.

Both coaches started the game with regular lineups, but Camilo Placi brought on his subs for Fakel during the second set and kept them on in the third.

Osmany Juantorena led the scoring for Lube with 14 points, as the Italian side fully dominated Fakel in all skills. They were never threatened in any way throughout the game - which, after all, only served to determine the pairings for the semifinals.

Artur Udrys with eight points was best scorer of Fakel.
