Rodriguinho helped Sada Cruzeiro to a win in their final match before the Club World Championship
Lausanne, Switzerland, November 21, 2018 – Sada Cruzeiro travel to Poland on Thursday in search of a fourth FIVB Volleyball Club World Championship title after defeating Caramuru Volei 3-0 (25-20, 25-18, 25-20) in the Brazil Super Liga last weekend. Middle blocker Kevin Le Roux led scoring with 11 points, while Rodriguinho weighed in with 10 points of his own.
The Club World Championship will take place in Poland from November 26 to December 2. Sada Cruzeiro have been placed in Pool B which will take place at the Hala Podpromie in Rzeszow, and they will take on Italian side Trentino Volley, Poland’s Asseco Resovia and Khatam Ardakan from Iran.
“We played well and I think we have managed to adjust some things, our serve, our attack, important things for what is coming ahead,” said coach Marcelo Mendez.
“The win will give us more confidence for the tournament in Poland. Now it’s all about preparing the team for the World Championship in these last few days in Belo Horizonte, because it will be a very difficult competition.”
Sada Cruzeiro won bronze in 2017 following back-to-back golds in 2015 and 2016. They also won gold in 2013.
Pool A is made up of defending champions Zenit Kazan from Russia, 2017 silver medallists Lube Civitanova from Italy, local favourites SKRA Belchatow and Fakel Novy Urengoy, also from Russia. Their matches will take place at the Orlen Arena in Plock.
