Team profile

Zenit-Kazan (RUS)

Defending world club champions Zenit Kazan, with a record six European Champions League titles under their belt (including the last four editions), are the powerhouse of European club volleyball.
After finishing runners-up to Brazil's Sada Cruzeiro of Contagem for two years running, Zenit finally clinched the only title that eluded them last year, when they struck gold at the 2017 FIVB Club World Championship with a win in the final over Italy's Lube Civitanova in straight sets.
Zenit Kazan are making their seventh appearance in the competition this year. They have been in the medals round of every single edition they participated in, for a tally of one gold, two silver and two bronze medals. The only time they missed out on the podium was in 2012 when they fell to Poland's PGE Skra Belchatow in five sets in the bronze medal match.
The club was founded in 2000 under the Dinamo banner in the capital city of the Republic of Tatarstan.
They have won the Russian league title a total of ten times, including the last five running.
Their 2017-18 season was a huge success, as they picked up all three domestic titles (League, Cup and Supercup) and then went on to beat Italy's Cucine Lube Civitanova in five sets in the European Champions League final.
